Scoring Methodology
How We Calculate Your ACFT Score
Transparency matters. Here is exactly how every score is computed.
Official FM 7-22.02 Tables
Every score lookup table in our calculator is copied exactly from Army Field Manual FM 7-22.02. We don't estimate or approximate the source data. Each event's point thresholds are implemented as TypeScript constants and verified against the published standard.
Linear Interpolation
When your performance falls between two table entries, we use the same linear interpolation method the Army uses. A 242 lb deadlift doesn't round down to 240. It scores precisely between the adjacent table values, giving you the most accurate result possible.
Instant Client-Side Scoring
All calculations run entirely in your browser using TypeScript. No server round-trip, no delay, no data sent anywhere. Your results are yours alone. We never transmit or store your performance data.
✓ Test-validated: Our scoring engine is verified against 60+ automated test cases covering every event boundary, minimum passing value, and maximum score.

Understanding Your ACFT Score
Total Score Ranges
Rules Soldiers Often Miss
You must pass ALL 6 events. Failing even one event fails the entire test, no matter your total score.
There is no age- or gender-based curve. All soldiers are held to the same standards.
Minimum 60 points per event. 360 total is the technical minimum passing score.
Scores are recorded to the nearest whole point.
Scores shown are for planning purposes. Official scores are determined by certified Army graders.
MOS Requirements
ACFT Performance Categories
While all soldiers must score 60+ per event to pass, Army occupational specialties have additional score requirements. Here's what different MOS categories demand.
Heavy (Black)
Combat arms MOSs (Infantry, Armor, Special Forces). Highest physical demand.
Significant (Gray)
Combat support MOSs. Elevated physical requirements for operational roles.
Moderate (Gold)
Combat service support and most other MOSs. Standard Army passing requirements.
Maximum
Perfect score. Rare. Demonstrates elite athletic performance across all 6 events.
Check your MOS requirements with your unit S1 or chain of command, since category assignments can change. Use the ACFT calculator to see if your current scores meet your MOS requirements.
MOS performance categories are for planning guidance. Official requirements are defined by Army policy and may vary.
